    Gone running 15 km just after watching the video 2 hours ago, it’s a game changing for me. I thought it would be hard at first, but it was the opposite, a much lower heart rate at the same pace. Incredible feel. 164 bpm at 4’24/km for 15 km. Start running 4 month ago, a lot to learn but so happy… Thank you so much for this vidéo, help a lot 🙏

    I definitely am going to give this a try. My pain is lower in the Achilles and by the back of the heel, so it’s insertional tendonitis. My heel often feels numb and tingles like my foot is asleep. I have had pain for the past 12 months. My physical therapy has only helped a little and my Achilles still hurts.

    It's not cadence, all y'all idiots in the run world and cycling world have bastardized the word cadence. You mean tempo. beats per minute, steps per minute. revolutions per minute. That isn't cadence. There are sooo many of you idiots now that websters recognizes it but you are still wrong. Just like the word ain't. You are idiots. It comes from music theory and you are ALL wrong. Use the correct terminology.

    If you do intervals, how do you rate the trainingload of the whole run? For example the minutes you go fast times 8 and the minutes you go slow times 3?

    Very good video thx😊 Only exemption I do in practice as running coach is allowing people at the beginning who slow run 7.30min or slower to just focus on posture as forward drive and form is so minimal that it helps motivate them by ignoring everything else for the first 1 or 2 months and focus knee drive, arms,foot strike ...etc on the one faster/ short run they do.

    So, I'm bummed out. Have been a runner for almost 30 years. Have run 20 marathons and countless halfs. Was training for number 21 this week and took a pretty bad fall. Stitches on my head, road rash, black eyes. My Dr says it is time to hang up my shoes and act my age (70)..........that would kill me. What do you guys think?

    What about midfoot strike? How do the forces work?

  • @VeryBeowulf
    @VeryBeowulf 5 днів тому

    Absolutely beautiful. They’re feet stay almost entirely flat relative in angle with the toes canted downwards to the ground, and it would be heel striking in terms of how far in front of their knees their heel and toe is, if it weren’t for the fact that they have the speed necessary to catapult themselves into the next position. At the same time as their body launches into its next posture for the push-off, they bring their power leg ‘backwards’ but it’s really almost staying in place while the rest of them catches up, so all they do is toe strike, and their feet absorb the energy and it recoils the spring so they can repeat the cycle on and on until they run out of gas. The hips also play a vital role in snapping the leg upwards and driving the Quad and Hamstring of the Thigh into the next step, thus making full use of their stored potential energy. The arms stay locked relatively close to the body to counteract the force produced as the result of the oncoming step, yet preserves the forward momentum and allows torso to stay in its correct upright position. These Men are absolutely incredible once you understand the majesty of physics and biology that’s occurring at such staggering speeds and over such distances.

    try inhaling through the nose and also exhaling through the nose, which will allow you to breathe more deeply and keeps the heart rate down during slow or steady state (aerobic) workouts; mind you, this needs some time and exercise to be able to do this constantly (couple of months, as I remember). This is also described in the Ayurvedic training programmes.

    This week I did a 10 mile long run where I maintained conversation for nearly the entire run. I wore a heart rate monitor and so I know I was in Zone 4 for 88% of the duration. This seems wrong given the zone descriptions, but I am confident I have my correct max heart rate and zones. Is this normal?

    I also have a lot of pronation like Joshua, which causes pain mainly when hiking or standing for long periods of time. However, i once bought stiff pronation stability running shoes. and they actually caused a lot of knee and hip pain, because they didn't cushion anything. HOWEVER, for walking and standing all day they actually relieved pain. So for running i use a neutral Nike Zoom with lots of padding, and for standing all day i use normal shoes (dress shoes, all-stars, whatever) and put arch-support insoles in them like Superfeet Green.
